Exterior View of New Planned Building from Division Street.
Provide space and services for residents to remain in the Shelter during the day and on weekends, which they cannot currently do. The Board of Directors of Arlington Life Shelter has approved a $4.2 million Capital Campaign. Funds raised will provide the Shelter with the means to:
- Tear down the building on the newly acquired property adjacent to the Shelter, and construct a new 2-story building. The first floor will be completed now and will allow the Shelter to increase and enhance services to women and children.
- Construct the shell of the 2nd floor of the new building, to be completed in the future.
- Renovate the current facility, including dorm rooms, adult lounges and administrative spaces.
- Add $200,000 to its operating reserve, in support of the expanded facilities.
Plans are to begin construction when approximately 85% of campaign funds have been received. The goal is to raise these funds as quickly as possible as the growing need is there every day. Ideally we would like to have the building ready for occupancy by early 2019.
